Templates are ready-made agents — a working set of journeys for a common job, like answering out-of-hours calls or taking bookings. Starting from one gives you a working draft in a couple of clicks, and you can change anything about it afterwards in the agent editor. It’s one of the two ways to create an agent; the other is Build with AI, where you describe what you want in your own words.

Create an agent from a template

1

Open the New agent dialog

On the Agents page, select New agent. A banner at the top shows the business profile your new agent will start off knowing — select Edit (workspace admins only) if anything in it has changed.
2

Choose Start from a template

The dialog offers two paths: Build with AI (recommended) and Start from a template — “Pick a ready-made setup and change anything afterwards.” Choosing the template path opens a gallery of templates matched to your sector, each showing its name and what it achieves.
3

Preview a template

Select a template to see what the agent will do, point by point, and anything still needed after you’ve tested it — an app to connect, say, or a number to route calls to. Keep browsing takes you back to the gallery.
4

Use this template

Use this template creates the agent as a draft and drops you into the editor. Test it straight away on the Test tab, then shape its personality and voice and journeys to fit your business.
If no templates are published for your sector yet, the gallery says so — and Build with AI instead, just below the gallery, is always one click away.
Anything a template lists as “still needed” never stops you testing your draft — nothing goes live until you publish.

If your workspace has no business profile yet

Every new agent starts off knowing your business, so if your workspace hasn’t confirmed a business profile the New agent dialog asks for one first. A workspace admin can fill it in on the spot with Fill in your business profile, or at any time from workspace settings. If you’re not an admin, the dialog asks you to have an admin fill it in — though you can still choose Build with AI in the meantime.

Templates during setup

You’ll also meet the template gallery the first time you sign in, as the “Pick a ready-made setup for your business” step of the setup wizard. That version is a full page: a search box, a Your sector filter, and a Recommended for your business section that leads with the closest matches. The preview and Use this template work exactly the same way.
